This week’s episode of the Three Minute Ministry Mentor is about you connecting with your friends as a support for your practice of ministry. Doing ministry is really not solo work, as we already considered in Episode 4: Collaboration.
Finding friends who are also living into a call to ministry can be life-giving to you and to them. 3MMM wants to add support to your peer relationships by helping you to jump start your conversations! That is one of the main reasons I launched this series.
We’ve received a few questions recently asking basically: how can I make use of the 3MMM?
Here area few simple ideas for how you can make more of 3MMM.
- Sign up for the 3MMM weekly email. Receiving each week’s post and video link at your inbox is easy and reliable. It comes every Monday. You can also find the videos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. That makes them especially easy to share and tag others you want to invite into this conversation.
- Connect with a minister friend or two and ask them to meet up with you. Maybe you can meet in person, but if not, try phone, zoom, facetime or one of the many other ways to connect over the web. Start with a simple meeting and make time for each of you to catch up on your lives.
- Choose one of the 3MMM videos and watch it together. React and respond to the story, the question, or go all in and commit to reading deeper into one of the suggested resources.
When you meet, don’t forget to invite your friends and fellow ministers to sign up for the weekly 3MMM email. If they sign up by Sunday night (1/13) of this week, they are automatically entered into a drawing for a free book! This week’s drawing will be for a resource we featured in Episode 3: Self Reflection.
Rev. Dr. Carrie Doehring has graciously donated her book, The Practice of Pastoral Care (Rev. & Expanded Ed.): A Postmodern Approach. The book is a much beloved text in pastoral care. Doehring offers wonderful insight about caring for those who are suffering grief or trauma. The book also offers the most essential guidance for listening, interpreting, and constructing meanings as well as thinking theologically about ministry. It is a wonderful addition to your book shelf no matter your stage of ministry. It might be yours if you sign up today!
